Vermicelli n° 170
Vermicelli belong to the family of numerous types of spaghetti, but are even thicker and chunkier than Spaghettoni. Vermicelli are originally from Naples and are thought to be one of the oldest forms of pasta. The mention by the master pasta-maker, Barnaba, dating back to 1338, indicates that Vermicelli were widespread in the north of Italy as well, but with different names: "orati" in Bologna, "minutelli" in Venice, "fermentini" in Reggio Emilia and "pancardelli" in Mantua. This type of pasta is especially good with tomato sauce or served with vegetable sauce made with courgettes, aubergines and peppers. It is also excellent tossed with oil, garlic and red pepper, or with fish and shellfish sauces. After being mixed with the sauce, this pasta is really delicious if it is tossed in a frying pan with a dash of Oil Available in 500g pack.s
